Originally released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Northern Ireland operations and 30 years service of the Wessex HC Mk2 helicopter with the Royal Air Force.
A striking and powerful image of the Wessex in action over Northern Ireland; seen flying in formation beneath a blanket of typically black and wet summer clouds over South Armagh are a pair of gun-armed Wessex from No. 72 Squadron. In the background, shafts of sunlight breaking through gaps in the rain illuminate the ground in hues of brilliant green.
The print is signed by two distinguished 72 Squadron pilots: Wing Commander Keith Parkes MBE and Group Captain Desmond Sheen DFC and Bar.
