Michael Rondot's wonderfully evocative print portrays three Jaguars breaking to land at Coltishall after the squadron's final mission. Led by their flagship with its specially painted fin, these Jaguars may be the last RAF aircraft to proudly wear 54's distinctive blue and gold colours after disbandment in 2005.
A unique multi-signed farewell tribute to a famous fighter squadron, No.54 (Fighter) Squadron, the RAF's highest-scoring Battle of Britain squadron and the first operational RAF Jaguar squadron.
The print is remarqued and carries over 80 signatures of 54 Squadron members including the following:
Wing Commander Neil Connell OBE Officer Commanding 54(F) Sqn 2003-2005 Air Vice-Marshal Sir Roger Austin KCBAFC Officer Commanding 54(F) Sqn Hawker Hunter 1968-1969 Air Commodore Terry Carlton Officer Commanding 54(F) Sqn Jaguar 1974-1976 Air Commodore Ricky Wright CBE DFC DFM 605 Sqn Battle of Britain, O.C.54(F) Sqn Vampire 1948-1949 Flight Lieutenant Ron Smyth DFCAE 111 Sqn and 249 Sqn Battle of Britain Wing Commander Bob Foster DFCAE 605 Sqn Battle of Britain, 54(F) Sqn Spitfire 1942-1944
